⚠️ Fraud Alert: Council Tax Scam Targeting Residents

I hope you are all well.

I would like to make you aware of a recent scam reported in the Shortlands and Park Langley area over the weekend, which appears to be targeting young adults.

A male in his mid-20s received several telephone calls from an individual claiming to be a police officer. The caller falsely stated that the victim would be arrested if he did not immediately pay outstanding council tax. Following repeated calls and pressure from the fraudster, the victim was persuaded to provide his bank details.

Shortly afterwards, the victim checked his bank account and discovered unauthorised withdrawals of money coming off from his account.  He has since contacted his bank and is seeking reimbursement of the stolen funds.
